04 / Testing & optimising

Heating pattern study
Comparing element layouts for even, rapid melting across the plate.

Guiding poles test
Three pole layouts tested on a scale rig for smooth, level plate travel.

Heating plate force simulation
Stress check of the plate under pressing load.

Hands-free lifting mechanism
A jack-and-lever mechanism lifts the heated plate: the hands-free core of the design.
Thicker plastic sheet output
Sheets up to 40 mm, with cavities and gaps reduced to 3 to 4 mm.
Standalone version
A self-contained frame with its own control box, no workbench needed.

05 / My role
Ideation sketches
Explored tabletop and standalone layouts and lifting mechanisms by hand.
Heat & lift tests
Set up the heating-pattern and guiding-pole experiments on scale rigs.
CAD in Fusion 360
Modelled the frame, plates, jack and control box, and simulated the plate.
Technical drawings
Produced the general arrangement and the lifting-lever drawings.
